Vlogs are just like blogs except they are in video form. They are a new and interesting medium for self expression, activism, product promotion, and just about everything else. You have a blog. Now make a vlog.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Video Camera
  1. Step 1

    Get a video camera

For between $50 and $100 one can get a good quality PC video camera. Install the software and connect the camera. You should see yourself in all your video glory, or lack thereof as is the case.

  2. Step 2

    Youtube.com

Youtube.com is probably the best place to make a vlog. Unlike a standalone vlog you are much more likely to get significant traffic if you post to Youtube.com.

Go to Youtube and establish an account. In your account settings you will see a number of places to post videos. One is entitled “my vlog.” So there you go, post your video there (Upload it.) It will be the most prominent video on your youtube homepage.

  3. Step 3

    Start talking

Have a topic that you want to talk about. Spare the world insight into your family intricacies and your purchase of a new bottle of toilet cleaner. If you want someone to sit and watch you for 3 minutes (don’t go too much over 3 minutes per video) give them something that is of value. Don’t waste your viewer’s time. They won’t waste theirs, and will turn you off anyway.

  4. Step 4

    Make an effort

If you make an effort to make a quality vlog, one with substance, and high production value, you may be rewarded with viewers.

If you build a group of followers through networking or other means you may be able to change your little corner of the world. You may be able to offer some insight that sparks another insight and furthers the progress of humanity. A little grandiose I know, but the personal nature of vlogs has huge potential to change the dialogue among people. To date this dialogue has been dominated mostly by official channels such as the government and mainstream media. Now the individual has a say, and vlogs might prove a complete game changer for politics and the economy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, anything you upload is there forever. Don't be stupid.
