Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microphone with stand
  • Digital voice recorder
  • Peers
  • Reading material
  1. Step 1

Real voice over training begins before you actually attend a school for it. Voice over training can be done at home first to prepare and enhance your speaking ability.

  2. Step 2

Before any voice over training is done or started remember you have to be able to read. That may sound silly but proper voice over training will allow you to read a script quickly. Not so much as being quick as done with character. Take out a book or news paper and pick a story. Study a few passages, how do they make you feel? You see, voice over training is not only used to speak aloud, voice over training can be felt silently also.

  3. Step 3

Your voice over training should begin with this method. Say the words out loud and include the emotion the author is trying to bring to you. Practice different scripts for your voice over training. They can be funny ones direct or authoritative. Voice over training is about learning to make someone believe and feel what your saying is true.

  4. Step 4

Next in your voice over training if you don’t have a microphone set up a fake one. You do however need a recording device for this phase of your voice over training. Record and listen to your self, how do you sound? Repeat this process of voice over training until your words are precise, fluent and until you feel, and believe what you’re saying. This voice over training step should be done in private and practiced for at least 30 days.

  5. Step 5

Now your voice over training should involve some peers or family member. Just because a radio voice over talent speaks into a mic at the station doesn’t mean he doesn’t do appearances. Proper voice over training will allow you to sway any crowd. Just because people in there cars or at home can’t see you face to face, if you stumble words you still look like an amateur. This is why direct voice over training is necessary with real people.

  6. Step 6

Lastly while this article discusses how to become a radio voice over talent and the voice over training you need. It is merely to prepare you to ace a class on voice over training. Wouldn’t you rather walk into a voice over training class already prepare and experienced, even if it’s self taught? I thought so too! Now that you have the knowledge explore different sources for voice over training in your area. Even if the voice over training class isn’t close to home read there materials and what is expected.
