Aram sandwiches make great finger foods at social gatherings. Learn how to make Aram sandwich for your next family reunion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 oz. Cream Cheese
  • Dill Weed
  • 1 Large Head Leaf Lettuce
  • 2-3 Medium Tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 Lbs. Sliced Chicken, Roast beef, or Ham
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 English Cucumbers
  • 1 Package Lawash or Armenian cracker bread
  1. Step 1

The preparation steps to make an Aram sandwich include slicing, rinsing, wrapping, and warming of different ingredients so please follow these steps to save time and energy.

  2. Step 2

Begin by taking the cream cheese out of the refrigerator so that it will reach room temperature when you are ready to use it.

Next, rinse the bread of your choice with warm water (note: you do not want a soggy bread so do wash the bread; do a quick rinse). Next, wrap the bread in a damp towel for 15 to 25 minutes. The purpose of this step is to make the cracker bread more bendable.

  3. Step 3

While waiting for the cream cheese and bread you should:

    a) Wash and dry the lettuce
    b) Thinly slice the cucumber, tomatoes, and your choice of meat(s)

  4. Step 4

When the bread is bendable and the cream cheese has reached room temperature do the following:

    a) Lay out 1 cracker bread (light side up) or 1 Lawash bread
    b) Spread 3-5 oz. cream cheese evenly onto your bread
    c) Shake some dill weed onto the cream cheese
    d) Add a layer of lettuce
    e) Add a layer of tomatoes
    f) Add a layer of cucumbers
    g) Add a layer of meat(s)
    h) Add salt and pepper

  5. Step 5

Roll/wrap the bread onto itself being careful not to squeeze out any of the tomatoes or cucumbers.

You can eat the entire sandwich (if you are THAT hungry) or slice it in halves, quarters or the traditional 1 inch slices to be served to more than one person.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also add cheeses, fresh herbs, peppers, pickles, or other ingredients that fold well.
  • A good method to keep the slices from falling apart is inserting the number of toothpicks into the sandwich (equally apart) prior to cutting the slices. This also serves as a gauge to keep the pieces uniform.
  • Experiment by stacking your slices onto a platter for a nice presentation to your guests.
  • Be sure to warn your guests about the toothpicks
