How to Obtain a Bronze Drake in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

If you find yourself in Northrend in need of an Epic flying mount, but don't want to spend the money on one, you can find one in a Heroic instance with relatively little trouble. All you've got to do is pry it from the cold, dead hands of the Infinite Dragonflight.

Things You'll Need

• Level 80 character
• High damage party members

Instructions

1. Obtain level 80. The instance you need to run is Caverns of Time: The Culling of Stratholme, on Heroic difficulty. While you don't need to farm keys for Heroics anymore, you do need to be level 80. You cannot zone into a Heroic instance without being level 80.

2. Assemble a group. You will need one healer, one tank and three fighters (DPSers.) Ideally, each of your DPSers should be able to put out around 1,800+ DPS (Damage Per Second.) DPS can be measured with any number of mods such as Recount. You will need a high DPS group to obtain the Bronze Drake because the instance is on a timer. You must kill a certain boss before the timer expires in order to get the Drake.

3. Clear the instance as quickly as you can. Time is essential, and will work heavily against you in this instance. Prince Arthas likes to talk for long periods of time and at least 2 of your 25 minutes (the Bronze Drake is on a 25-minute timer) will be eaten up with dialog. Get from flag to flag as quickly as possible.

4. Haul it through The Gauntlet. After you kill Chrono Lord Epoch, you will need to run through a burning street filled with undead, commonly known as "The Gauntlet." Getting through the gauntlet quickly requires chain-pulling elite mobs quickly so they do not attack Arthas. He is not elite and will get eaten alive by elite mobs. Try not to stop here unless you have to.

5. Run to the left after you finish The Gauntlet. Do not talk to Arthas or you will start the final event. Instead, follow the street around to the left. You will find a Bronze Dragon being interrogated by an Infinite Dragon. This is the boss you are after.

6. Kill the Infinite Dragon within the 25-minute time limit. Doing so guarantees you one Bronze Drake mount. Congratulations, you've gotten a free epic flying mount! Now you just need to come back a few more times to get mounts for your friends.

7. Speak to Arthas and follow him to the final fight with Mal'Ganis. Destroy Mal'Ganis and loot his chest to finish the instance.

Tips & Warnings

• Ignore the non-elite zombies in The Gauntlet; they will only slow you down. Leave them to Arthas.
