Remove Acid From Sauce
Remove Acid From Sauce

Like most people I enjoy tomato sauce and I use to be able to eat it with no problems. Then one day I started getting very bad heartburn with acid reflux, and the tomato sauce would repeat on me all through the day and night. I am sure you also know this all too well. So I started preparing my sauce differently and it worked wonderful and I will show you how to reduce the acid from sauce.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

There are so many different types of red sauce that carry so much acid in them, such as your Sunday sauce or a marinara sauce even a red clam sauce or a fra diavolo sauce can have so much acid in them. And a lot of people usually don't even bother having any type of red sauce because the acid can be so uncomfortable.

  2. Step 2

When preparing your tomato sauce of any kind simply peel and cut a whole carrot in half and add it to your tomato sauce.
By adding the carrot to the sauce it releases a natural sugar when cooked, which cuts the acid while giving the sauce a natural and delicious taste.

  3. Step 3

When serving your sauce simply remove the carrot and discard. And use your sauce as usual. You will never even know that the carrot was in the sauce. But you will notice that you will have no heartburn after eating the sauce when prepared with the carrot.

on 5/1/2009 I've always added a little sugar and a dash of baking soda to my sauces. I've not tried this before. Thanks for the idea, I'll give it a try.
