Use these few steps to make your friends laugh. I'll even give you a joke to start with.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Friendly Audience of at least one Person
  • Confidence
  • Joke
  1. Step 1

Know the joke. Period. If you're not sure go over it in your head - all the way to the punchline - before you start.

  2. Step 2

Tell the joke from a standing position. Witicisms and puns are fine while seated, but jokes work best when you're standing up.

  3. Step 3

Be animated. Smile and move your arms about. Look happy to be there.

  4. Step 4

If you're nervous, pick just one person in the audience and tell the joke directly to him/her.

  5. Step 5

Speak in a firm, confident voice. It's not funny if no one hears it.

  6. Step 6

Enjoy yourself. Sometimes it's even funnier if things don't go as planned.

  7. Step 7

OK, here's a joke to start with: A guy walks into a bar with a duck on his head. The bartender says "Can I help you?" and the duck says "Yeah, can you get this guy off my a**?"

Tips & Warnings
  • Confidence is key. Fake it till you make it!
  • Do not picture your audience in their underwear. That image will be so disturbing that you'll never remember the joke.

on 9/19/2009 My dad and brother tell long involved jokes and do it with flair. I get nervous and forget part of the joke. Maybe I can do a short one like this.
