Sell an Idea
Sell an Idea

Selling ideas is what business is all about. It doesn’t matter how good an idea is if you can’t sell it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A sharp mind
  1. Step 1

    Know your idea.

Think about what you are trying to sell. What about it is unique? What about it will benefit your audience? Are you prepared for counter arguments regarding your idea? You need to look at your idea from every angle. Assess its strengths and weaknesses honestly.

  2. Step 2

    Know your audience

Who are you selling your idea too? Is it a group of investors with heaps of cash but also many suitors? Is it a corporate audience? Is it your parents, or your wife?

Why should they like your idea as much as you do? If you can’t answer that question think long and hard about what you are doing.

Remember, the key to all sales is: “What’s in it for me?” You can thank Zig Ziglar for that vital insight. How will your idea make your audiences’ life better?

  3. Step 3

    Be enthusiastic

This is almost as key as the “What’s in it for me?” bit. Be impassioned. Let your inner salesperson go. If you know that your idea is a good one. If you know how to counter arguments against that idea. If you know what your audience wants. Well, my friend, if you’re enthusiastic in your presentation you will close the deal. Whether that be Dad’s sports car for prom, or establishing a 100 million dollar factory in China, the same simple rules apply.
