To save money while the economy is strained, it's necessary to be savvy when shopping and buying. Comparison shopping and buying good quality are two good strategies to save money. Doing research can take longer, but the savings are usually worth it in the end.

  1. Step 1

    Always check out house brands. Name brands always cost more and the quality isn't necessarily any better than the cheaper Try to buy in bulk when possible for the best savings. Warehouse clubs offer excellent quality products and foods at excellent prices.

  2. Step 2

    Make sure to redeem any coupons and rebates that might be available.

  3. Step 3

    Create a shopping list and stick to it. Impulse buying can add up to be a lot of money at the end of the year.

  4. Step 4

    Always comparison shop. Look at unit pricing which is required to be listed on the shelving units. Buy the larger units of items you are sure you will use to save money on items like toilet paper, cereal, paper towel, etc.
