Prepare Land for a Manufactured Home
Prepare Land for a Manufactured Home

Before you take delivery of a manufactured home there are some basic steps you need to do to prepare the land for the arrival and installation of the home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First contact the delivery company and see what the width of the truck they are bringing the home in on is. You will need to keep this in mind so that you can be sure that the truck will be able to reach the spot you intend for the manufactured home.

  2. Step 2

Try to pick a site on the land that is relatively level. If there is no location like this then you may need to hire someone to level an area.

  3. Step 3

The soil around the house needs to be sloped enough that water can run away from the house. This will help to prevent flooding. Once again you may need to hire some on to do excavating.

  4. Step 4

You need to clear the are where you are putting the manufactured home or debris like rocks and trees.

  5. Step 5

Make sure that any will soil on the site of the manufactured home is compact so that the house doesn't sink.

  6. Step 6

Check with utility companies to see if there is anything you need to do to prepare your land for a manufactured home to be connected to their services.
