Make a Scrumptious Mamey Milkshake

I remember having these when I was in Mexico. They soon became one of my favorite drinks. The fruit is native to Mexico. It is very sweet when ripened and tastes like ice cream. You have got to give this drink a try.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 fresh mamey
  • 1 blender
  • 1 knife
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar if mamey is not sweet enough.
  • Any type of milk you want. Yes that includes soy milk.
  • Cinnamon and nutmeg (optional)
  1. Step 1

Slice the mamey in half. Check to see it is ripe. It should be a pinkish orange color. Take a taste and see if it is sweet. Use a spoon and scoop out the brown/black seed. Ensure none of the seed is left behind.

  2. Step 2

Take half of the mamey and scoop out the flesh(the pink orange stuff). You can use a spoon for this.

  3. Step 3

Put the flesh in the blender. If the mamey is not very sweet add the sugar. Fill the rest of the blender space up with milk. Don't fill the blender too full. You don't want a mess. Blend the mixture until it is completely liquid.

  4. Step 4

Pour the milkshake into two large glasses. Add some cinnamon and nutmeg to the top if you want. Then the delicious drink is ready t serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want a less healthy version add two scoops of vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt to the blender before adding the milk. This makes a great smoothie!
  • The mamey flesh freezes really well so you can freeze the extra or try some other recipes.
  • Be careful with the knife to not cut yourself.
  • Don't over fill the blender
