After buying or building a new house, the chore of decorating can seem very daunting. This will hopefully help you keep it simple and fun.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Just enough money to buy whatever you think you will need.
  1. Step 1

Okay, it's easiest if you start with the biggest projects and move to the smallest. So think about each room in your house. Now the first thing to do is decide what color you want each room to be. Do you want to paint the walls a certain color? The ceiling? Think about the atmosphere you want each room to have. So first decide on the color of each room and get painting.

  2. Step 2

After you have painted each room it's time to think of furniture. Now that you have the color of each room you can pick out matching furniture (or non-matching, however you want it to look). This will be easiest if you take color samples of each room with you from the color you painted it, so you can make sure what your getting is matching each room the way you want.

  3. Step 3

After you have gotten the furniture in each room you can focus on the "accessories". This is the bedding for bedrooms, curtains for windows, lamps, shades, lights, candles, anything and everything you want in each room. Now that you have all the furniture matching each room, you can make the accessories match the furniture however you want. See how you have moved from the largest project to the smallest. This way you are not thinking about too much at once and everything looks the way you want it. These steps should simplify your decorating proccess.

Tips & Warnings
  • As for where to buy everything, it really depends on where you live and your budget.
  • Remember not to overload your budget with stuff, there's always more time to keep adding to your decorations, you don't want to do it all at once if you can't afford it.
  • If you hire proffesional help, for something like painting, make sure that they have done something like this before and have the proper experience so that you aren't being ripped off and end up with a sloppily done room.
