Things You'll Need:
- Stained Glass Paint
- Liquid Leading
- Window for Painting
- Sand Paper
- Window Cleaner
- Drawing or Design
- Paint brushes
-
Step 1
Choose the window you would like to paint. Sand the frame of the window to make sure there is no loose paint around it. Clean the window with Window Cleaner. It is best to remove the window and lie it down flat while you paint it. Glass paint is very thin and will easily run.
-
Step 2
Now that the window is prepped, you are ready to begin. Start by choosing your design, picture, or drawing that you will use to copy onto the window. Coloring pages make great sources for your stained glass picture. Once you have chosen the picture or design, tape it onto the outside of the window, filling the entire frame. You may need to use a copier to enlarge or minimize the size to fit the window pane.
-
Step 3
You now have a pattern to easily trace. Take your liquid leading and follow the drawing to make your outline. Completely outline the entire drawing. Allow ample time for the liquid leading to dry, which usually takes several hours.
-
Step 4
Once the outline is completely dry, begin filling inside the lines with colored glass paint. Continue until all areas inside the outline are covered with the glass paint colors of your choice. Allow the glass paint to dry completely before re-hanging the window. That's it. You now have a beautifully decorated stained glass window to enjoy!
