Things You'll Need:
- Rice
- Water
- Food processor
-
Step 1
To begin, measure 1/4 cup rice and grind the rice into a fine powder using the food processor. For healthier rice, go with brown rice over white rice.
-
Step 2
Mix the rice into 1 cup boiling water and let simmer for 10 minutes. Unlike regular rice, do not set to low and forget about it. You need to whisk constantly.
-
Step 3
Cool the mixture and then add 3 tablespoons of breast milk, formula or water for a thin consistency. If this is too thick for your baby, add in 1 tablespoon increments until you are comfortable with the thickness of the cereal.
-
Step 4
Pour into bowl and test to make sure the temperature is good for your baby. Finally stick in the baby spoon and begin serving your baby a homemade, healthier rice cereal.

on 4/19/2009 this tips is excellent to introduce more texture to babies... for younger babies, however, i found it easier to cook the rice first then puree it with hand blender to have it a lil'bit smoother and runny

on 4/3/2009 This is excellent advice for healthy baby food. My wife used to make baby food, but never thought about making rice cereal. (Probably cuz we didn't have a food processor "back in the day". Our kids will love this, though, thanks.
