How to Change Your Computer Wallpaper on Windows Vista
Wallpapers are the images used as your desktop background. Nearly all operating systems, including Windows Vista, provide an ability to have and change a desktop wallpaper. Whether it is a favorite family photo or just an interesting image found on the Internet, wallpapers can transform your desktop into something more personable. Change your wallpaper in Vista through the Personalization menu.

Click "Start," then click "Control Panel." This opens a new window. Click the "Appearance and Personalization" icon, then click "Personalization."

Click "Desktop Background." This opens a component used to manage your wallpapers. Click the down-arrow on the menu next to "Picture Location" to display a list of locations on your computer containing images.

Click to choose the location containing the image you want to use for your wallpaper. This loads thumbnails for your wallpaper images on the screen. Select the image or images you want to use by clicking the thumbnail. When properly selected, a check mark appears at the corner of the thumbnail.

Adjust the position of the wallpaper by clicking in the "How should the picture be positioned" drop-down menu and selecting either the "Screen," "Tile" or "Centered" position.
If you selected multiple images for your wallpaper, click in the drop-down menu under "Change picture every" to select how often you want the images to change. Click the "Save changes" button at the bottom when finished.

Tips & Warnings
Change your wallpaper quickly by right-clicking any image currently on the screen and clicking "Set as Desktop Background." This will make the current image your desktop wallpaper. This process can be done on images stored on your computer and images located on most Web pages.
