Things You'll Need:
- Pineapple
- Water
- jar
- Soil (optional)
- Pot (optional)
-
Step 1
Pineapple topCut off the top of the pineapple (the spikey part.) Cut as close to where the leaves start.
An easier trick is to twist the pineapple top off. Carefully grasp the lowest part of the leaves and twist until it pops off. -
Step 2
Pull off some of the leaves on the bottom. Pull off enough to have the bottom bare, so the leveas will not be sitting in the water.
-
Step 3
Add water to the jar, just enough water to submerge the bottom.
-
Step 4
Pineapple in jarPlace the pineapple top in the jar of water. Let the leaves balance the pineapple in the jar. Make sure the leaves are not in the water. The leaves will rot if they are in the water. Let the roots grow(usually about 3 weeks.) Keep away from a hot area, like sunny windows.
-
Step 5
Getting some roots. After roots have grown out, prepare a pot. Fill the pot 3/4 with soil bromeliad potting soi is prefered, but not necessary.
-
Step 6
Place the pineapple top in the center of the soil, fill with the remaining soil. Bury the roots and bottom part of the plant.
-
Step 7
Keep the soil moist, but not wet. Enjoy it's growth and beauty!
