A simple guide on how to change a flat tire.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Spare Tire
  • A Jack
  • A Lug-Nut Wrench
  1. Step 1

Carefully find a safe place to bring your vehicle so you don't have to worry about other vehicles. Be sure it's a level area, avoiding areas with any incline.

  2. Step 2

Gather all of your supplies before beginning anything.

  3. Step 3

Loosen the lug nuts, one end of your wrench will fit them properly and simply place it over the lug nuts turning the wrench counterclockwise to loosen it.

  4. Step 4

Jack up the corner of the car that you're working on, do this by raising the car jack enough so that it just touches the car. Then position the jack, there is a spot that is specifically designated, depending on the vehicle. It is usually about a foot in front of and inside the front wheels, and a foot behind and inside the rear wheels. Once it is in position, continue to turn the handle until the car rises off the flat tire, giving it extra space to work with putting a new tire on afterwards.

  5. Step 5

Remove the old wheel by spinning the lug nuts off and putting them aside. Grab the wheel on the far left and far right center, pulling off gently.

  6. Step 6

Position the new wheel to line up with the holes in the center. Tighten the lug nuts carefully, being sure to use them in the proper order.

  7. Step 7

Carefully lower the car with the jack handle, turning it in the opposite way. The jack will fall over as the weight is removed, just lie it on its side and continue turning the handle until it is fully closed.

  8. Step 8

Put the old tire in your spare compartment, or secure it, to dispose of it safely later. Secure the jack in its given location as well.
