Before you begin, be sure to use a cloth to protect your clothing where your baby's face will be resting, to avoid any obvious messes.

-
Step 3
The Sitting Up Position: Place the baby on your lap in a sitting up position, facing your chest. Support the babies chest and chin with one hand.
-
Step 4
The Lap Position: Place the baby across your lap, face down. The babies stomach should be on one thigh, with the head resting on the otherf thigh. Hold the baby gently, but securely, with one hand.
-
Step 5
The Shoulder Position: Gently, but firmly, hold the baby against your shoulder. Support the baby by placing an arm under her bottom.
-
Step 6
Gently rub or pat the baby on its back. If this does not cause them to burp, slowly and carefully begin to add aw bit more pressure to the patting or rubbing.
