Make Your Mystic Tan Last Longer
Make Your Mystic Tan Last Longer

Mystic Tanning has become increasing popular over the last few years. This form of tanning provides a natural even looking tan without the harmful UV rays that sun and tanning beds cause. Furthermore, Mystic Tanning booths are incredibly convenient and provide 100% privacy. Here individuals can achieve a beautiful tan in less than a minute!

For those of you looking to get that perfect summer glow; here are a few tips to help you make your mystic last longer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A salon that carries a Mystic Tan booth
  1. Step 1

    Before You Tan

    * Make sure that you are keeping your skin properly hydrated at least 24 hours before your tanning session. Properly hydrated skin will increase the effectiveness of the spray tan, allowing the mist to bond to your skin. Dry skin will inhibit the DHA formula in the mystic tan solution to enter your pores.

    * On the day of your session. Make sure your skin is bare. This means that lotions, perfumes, and makeup should be taken off before entering the booth. It is also important to exfoliate your skin fully before going to your session. Taking these precautions will increase the effectiveness of your tan, and give you the best possible color.

  2. Step 2

    During Your Session

    * Always follow the instructions or tanning specialist. This will help you avoid any unnecessary streaking.

    * Don't Freak Out! Some Mystic tanning booths can be a little frightening. They are built with high pressured nozzles that extract tanning solution in a fast vertical motion. This can be jarring at first, but just remember it only last about 14 seconds. If you find this discomforting, search for salons that carry newer mystic tanning booths. These booths are much quieter and provide an automated system that talks you through the process. In addition, these booths carry 1 spray nozzle instead of 3 that targets specific areas of the body instead of a quick all over spray.

  3. Step 3

    Once Your Done.

    * Don't panic if you do not see results immediately. Mystic Tan suggest that you don't shower for at least 4 to 6 hours after you have sprayed. During this time the DHA bonds to your skin making you darker as the hours pass by. To achieve an even darker color, try to hold off showering until the next day. Many Mystic Tanners swear by this method.

    * As mentioned before, moisturize daily! Hydrated skin keeps skin cells in tact longer, allowing your tan to stay on longer. Do not let your skin become too dry. This will cause flaking and as a result create an unflattering cracked skin look.

    * Minimize exfoliating. This will inhibit any rubbing off of the solution that wash cloths and loofas can cause.

    * Last. Do not be afraid to continue tanning. Regardless of your tanning preferences intermixing your tanning techniques will only increase your chances of creating a more natural looking color. This is great technique commonly referred to ass "Cocktail" tanning.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your skin is on the lighter side, it would be best to tan in a bed first and then enter a booth. This will give you an amazing base color with just the right amount of glow.
  • For those of you with darker skin, and unsure if Mystic Tan is for you, don't worry it is! Opt for their darkest color, this will leave your skin with a beautiful bronze finish.

on 3/13/2009 Hating having "white" skin when summer comes around but not wanting to expose myself to the risks of getting skin cancer, I think this just might be the answer! Thanks!
