Everyone wants to take a vacation and get away, but sometimes it's not in our budget to travel. What we often overlook is our own home town and all of the things to do and see there!

Things You'll Need:

Take a look around and in the phone book. See if there are any museums that you haven't been to or art galleries. Search the internet and see if there are museums that offer free admission. Some have free dates once a month and others may be free, or free to enter with a donation.

Look for colleges in your area. They usually have some type of coliseum or arena that is filled with team memorabilia. They also have interesting museums, art galleries and unique libraries worth a visit.

  3. Step 3
    Besthoff Garden

During the summer, a lot of cities have live bands performing in local parks or city centers at some time during the day. These performances typically have free admission, so pack a picnic and enjoy your local entertainment.

  4. Step 4

Plan your vacation day around a town festival. Festivals also have free live entertainment, and frequently have car shows with no admission fee. You'll see the same things you would at a Cavalcade of Wheels, without paying for entry!

  5. Step 5
    Paintsville Lake

Finally, take time to visit your local lakes and parks. And look around the area for statues and other memorials that you haven't spent time studying. This is a great opportunity to get to know a little history about the area where you live!
