How to Celebrate Buy Nothing Day Internationally

What is Buy Nothing Day? Buy Nothing Day is the day to skip spending and shopping. If you can skip for two days without pulling out your wallet then this is how to do it but if you will spend your money then it is fine too, because this is not a law that you need to follow but rather an individual's beliefs or superstitious about the unpopular word Buy Nothing Day.

The word buy nothing day is not popular because it is just a matter of opinion from different cultures or people. Like in United States, this holiday falls in during the 29th of November 2008-Saturday, but if you are in the other country you can also do the same thing or make your own buy nothing day.

I remember that my deceased grandmother told me of not to buy anything during Black Friday and Saturday because according to her it will bring bad luck in our financial situation, even if we did not have money to lose if we will spend our last penny. But that was only her opinion, you can make your own and you can participate if you want to but most of all this is totally free and there's no string attach if you will participate or celebrate during the-Buy Nothing Day.

If you are interested to know more about this then here's some ways to follow:

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • spend nothing
  • eat less
  • skip shopping
  • volunteer
  1. Step 1

Try not to spend your money from November 28-United States and Canada, and November 29 all over the world or whatever country you are in after the Thanks Giving Day. You can only do this if you believed about the-buy nothing day campaign.

I personally, can go for a month without spending my money if I want to but if I will spend during the buy nothing day, then it is not against the law to shop and spend.

  2. Step 2

We usually just stay inside the house or have parties outside without spending or go shopping but before that day, we already bought enough food supply for these two days. If you think is fun then join the party, but if you think it is nonsense or this is just for a bunch of scrooges then do your thing. This is voluntary and it is not compulsory.

  3. Step 3

Try not to eat too much too. This is like fasting or cleansing period. You cannot shop or spend money and you cannot eat too much also. But again, it is not against the law to do what you wish to do during this day. It is just for the consumers who believed about switching their mind to do just nothing in two days or the night before Christmas or New Year.

  4. Step 4

If you are planning to celebrate Buy Nothing Day, you will need to shop enough food for two days to avoid spending money during the holiday. Some folks believed that if you will take out your cash or spend your money during the midnight of December 31st up to November 13th, means your cash or savings will keep flowing out of your pocket or wallet and that you will have difficulty in your finances. But if you think this is just all B...Sh in your part then don't do what others do during the-Buy Nothing Day.

Tips & Warnings
  • Follow your guts and not what others want you to do in life.
  • If it is free, maybe it won't hurt you to celebrate or participate if it will make sense to you at all.
