The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) is a proposed amendment to the National Labor Relations Act. The Employee Free Choice Act amendment proposes to allow the National Labor Relations Board to certify a representative when supported by a majority of employees when no other representative is certified or recognized as the exclusive representative of the employees. It has stirred a lot of debate, with some people claiming it will be the end of the secret ballot. Supporters of the bill claim it will not do away with secret ballots, but force employers to accept a majority sign-up and the manner with which employees decide to form a union.
