Have you ever tried making pralines? A lot of folks never try them because they think they're too hard! Here's the easy way to make these smooth, delicious treats in about 15 minutes!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Heavy saucepan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Stove
  • Wax Paper
  • Teaspoons
  1. Step 1

Combine sugar, butter (do not substitute margarine) and pecans in the heavy saucepan on medium high heat. Stir gently until it comes to a bubbly boil. The mixture will be somewhat thick and will bubble instead of coming to a rolling boil. Reduce heat and continue stirring the boiling mixture for three minutes.

  2. Step 2

Remove from heat and add the vanilla, milk and powdered sugar. Add the sugar slowly and stir quickly to mix well. If too thin to hold it's form, add very small amounts of powdered sugar until thick enough to spoon out into "blobs". If too thick, add just a few drops of milk until is smooth and still holds it's form.

  3. Step 3

Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper and allow to cool. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Results are best if made on a sunny day!
  • Constant stirring is needed for butter to blend well with sugar.
  • If you need to adjust the finished consistency with milk or sugar, it will only require very small amounts, so add cautiously.

on 3/12/2009 I can't wait for you to try them. I took them to work yesterday and everyone loved them. I'm envious that you have two trees - ha! I have to buy mine in a bag and they're not cheap! Let me know how they turn out!
