Clean up Drops of Oil Based Paint

While painting inevitably a few drops of paint will fall on your linoleum or hardwood flooring or just into your sink. If you do not wipe them immediately the will leave paint marks where they fell. Here is a tip for cleaning the pint drops up if you have no paint thinner available.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

As soon as possible look for stray paint droplets when you are done painting. The less time these stray drops have to dry the better.

  2. Step 2

Grab the rubbing alcohol and pour it directly on the stray drops of oil based paint. Allow it to soak for a few seconds. Soak longer if the paint is drier.

  3. Step 3

Next take a wash cloth or rag and wipe the paint up. If the paint is a little to dry grab a sponge and soak it in rubbing alcohol. Sit the sponge on the stray paint droplet and leave it to soak for about ten minutes or so. Then the paint will probably scrub up with the sponge.

  4. Step 4

Of course use all necessary safety precautions for the rubbing alcohol. I have not tried this method on paint that has had time to dry thoroughly, but soaking it could possibly work to get it up.
