This article will explain step-by-step the techniques and positions required in order to successfully make the transition from rolling forwards to rolling backwards on your inline skates. Do not attempt this trick until you can skate backwards comfortably!

The ability to make the transition from forwards to backwards is crucial in aggressive inline skating. Being able to land backwards after executing a trick such as jumping off of a ramp will help you reduce speed and maintain balance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A pair of inline skates. Protective gears such as helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards are recommended.
  1. Step 1

Begin by rolling forwards. Keep your feet in a close, comfortable, parellel position. And keep your knees bent!

  2. Step 2

To make the transition, start by first turning your shoulders to the opposite direction. This way, when you decide to make the transition, the inline skates will follow your body in transition.

  3. Step 3

Then, lift up your inline skates and rate 180 degrees to the opposite direction. With enough practice, you can do steps 2 and 3 simultaneously with speed and ease.

  4. Step 4

Land with your feet in parallel position. Keep your head looked over your shoulder, and continue skating backwards.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear all your protective gears to avoid injury.
  • Do not attempt this until you can skate backwards comfortably.
  • Be prepared to fall several times before mastering this trick.
