Step 1
Start by boiling water. Follow the recipe on the oatmeal cartoon. I like to use a little less water or a little more oatmeal because this is a savory dish and I prefer a thicker consistency. One way to do it is to add in the oatmeal a little at a time until it reaches the consistency that you like. Just remember that the final consistency will be a little bit thicker once it cools down.

Step 2
While the water is boiling, brown some ground chicken or turkey. I prefer to brown it without using oil in a non-stick skillet, but you could use a little oil if you like, just drain out the oil when you are done. The rest of the recipe is really up to personal taste. I like to use canned corn, and chop up some mushrooms and carrots in tiny cubes.

Step 3
Once the water is boiling, add in the vegetables. Cook for a couple minutes and add in the oatmeal. Once the oatmeal reaches the consistency that you like, add in the browned chicken/turkey and stir. There you have it, a tasty savory oatmeal that only takes minutes to cook! Did I mention it's good for your health too?!!
