There are ways to make your lips appear fuller by utilizing a few inexpensive cosmetic products that you can find at the drug store. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 tsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. white sugar
- Small bowl
- Towel
- Lip plumping serum
- Light reflecting concealer
- Face powder
- Powder puff or concealer brush
- Crème lip liner
- Lip brush
- Shiny lipstick
- Paper towel
- Lighter-colored lipstick or lip gloss
Instructions
-
Exfoliate the Lips
-
1
Mix together olive oil and sugar in a small bowl. Blend until it forms a paste-like substance.
-
2
Apply the mixture to your lips, using your fingers. Scrub the lips well, and leave on the substance for three to five minutes.
-
-
3
Rinse the substance from your lips with water. Use a towel to pat dry the lips.
Plumping Serum
-
4
Apply plumping serum to your lips after you have applied your face makeup. Make sure to apply the plumping serum evenly throughout the lips.
-
5
Wait the allotted time suggested on the lip plumping serum directions. After the lips plump to the desire fullness, apply your light-reflecting concealer to the lips.
-
6
Set the concealer with pressed face powder. Use your powder puff or a clean concealer brush to apply the pressed face powder.
Lip Liner
-
7
Outline the lips, just above the natural lip line. This is the white area that sits just above the natural lip line. Choose a lip liner that glides on easily and ensures a smooth application.
-
8
Use a natural-colored lip liner. Also, do not use a lip liner that is too many shades darker than the lipstick you are wearing. Overly dark lip liner makes your lips look over done, and can make you look older than you are. Instead, opt for a lip liner that is close to your natural lip color.
-
9
Apply the lipstick in the color of your choice, using a lip brush. A lip brush ensures even application and helps to create a fuller lip by shading in the area between your natural lip line and the created lip line.
-
10
Blot the lips with tissue paper or a paper towel. This removes excess lipstick, so you can apply face powder on top of the lipstick.
-
11
Apply face powder using a concealer brush or pressed powder puff. Reapply the lipstick with the lip brush.
-
12
Finish by adding a small dash of lighter-colored lipstick or lip-gloss to the center of the top and bottom lips. The contrast between the two shades of lipstick draws the eye to the center of the lips and creates the illusion of fuller lips.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't have sugar and olive oil on hand, you can also use a regular body scrub.
Exfoliation prior to applying a lip serum helps to remove dead skin cells on the lips, and allows the ingredients within the plumping serum to penetrate the skin, making it more effective.
HairBoutique.com states that you can also use a toothbrush and use small circular motions to exfoliate the lips. This helps increase circulation in the lips, giving them a plumper appearance.
It is important to place lip liner after applying the lip serum because the ingredients within the lip plumping serum increase the size of your natural lips. Therefore, you want to wait until the lips enlarge to the desired size before using lip liner to outline the lips.
If one of your lips is slightly larger than the other lip, and you want to make your lips more symmetrical, use the plumping serum on the smaller lip only.
Pick shinier lipsticks over matte finishes. According to BellaSugar.com, lipsticks with shinier finishes make lips appear bigger.
