How to Make Seat Covers
Don't throw out those chairs because the seat covers are worn. Make some new ones. Not only will you save money, you'll be able to replace them with something you like. Making seat covers isn't that hard, and you don't need a bunch of tools to do it. As long as you can measure, use a pair of scissors and a staple gun, you can make new seat covers in no time.

1
Remove the old seat holding the seat covers. Usually you can use a screwdriver and pry the seat up from the chair. The base should just pop out. Be careful not to damage the wood by prying too hard with the screwdriver.

2
Measure the area of the seat that will need to be covered. Add three to four extra inches to your measurements, to allow for the area that will be tucked under. You can remove the old cover if you like, but it isn't necessary since the new covers will cover it over.

Purchase your new fabric. You should be able to find anything you want at your local fabric or craft store. You'll also need a staple gun and will probably be able to find one at these stores, too. If not, your local home supply store will have one.

4
Cut your seat covers to the desired size. Lay your fabric seat panel right side down, on a flat surface. Place the base you're covering in the center of the fabric.
-
5
Fold the fabric over to the bottom side of the base. Using your staple gun, staple the fabric to the base, pulling it tight as you staple. Once your fabric is attached, push the base back into the seat of the chair. Repeat these steps until all your seats have been covered. If this is a heavily used piece of furniture, you might want to spray it with fabric protector before you use it.
