How to Design a Basketball Jersey

A basketball jersey is usually worn during practice, but that does not mean that it should not represent your team. Create your own basketball jersey that represents your team and gives it a professional team-oriented look.

    Instructions

    1. Designing a Basketball Jersey

      • 1

Pick out the team colors. Basketball jerseys are usually reversible, so pick two different colors (one for each side). Basketball colors are usually one dark color and one light color--e.g. black and gold, white and blue, green and silver.

      • 2

Pick the color of the text on the jersey. Basketball jerseys are usually very plain, and the numbers will be the same color on both sides of the jersey or they will alternate the colors on both sides--i.e. if one side is black with gold lettering, then the other side would be gold with black lettering.

      • 3

Decide what kind of mesh you want the jersey to be. All basketball jerseys are made out of 100 percent polyester. Several different kinds of mesh are available--the only difference is the size of the holes, so it is purely a visual preference.

      • 4

Choose the type of neckline that you want. Most basketball jerseys just have a simple round neck, but jerseys can have v-necks.

      • 5

Pick the type of armhole that you want. Basketball jerseys can have very tight fighting holes around the armpits, or they can extend very low on the torso. Men, generally, have lower falling armholes than women.

      • 6

Decide what you want written on the jersey. Numbers are not required, but for the most part, they are always present on jerseys. In addition to numbers, decide if a school name, last name or anything else will be written on the jersey. Normally, if you have something written on one side of the jersey, then you will want the same thing written on the other side.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Basketball jerseys are different from uniforms; they are usually more casual and are used just for practices or scrimmages.
