How to Seal Acrylic Paint on Glass Crafts

For best results and wear, paint should be sealed after being applied to surfaces. This includes paint techniques that are applied to glass surfaces as well.
When you seal paint, you are protecting the paint from becoming soiled and worn. Sealing paint also protects paint from fading from the sun.
After you have spent the time and effort to paint a craft project, it makes sense to take the additional step of protecting your masterpiece from damage by sealing it.

Things You'll Need

• Varnish Paint brush Rag

Instructions

1. Decide on the best kind of varnish for your needs. See Resources below for some typical options.

2. Apply the varnish with the paint brush, starting at the upper-left corner and progressing across the top of the area. Continue applying a thin layer carefully across the entire surface area to be protected.

3. Let the varnish dry completely.

4. Apply a second coat in the same manner as the first coat.

5. Allow the second coat to dry for 12 to 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings

• The temperature must be at least 60 degrees F to apply varnish to a surface.
