Whether you're a young child creating a furry friend or a teen making a bear for a sweetheart, building a bear in Bearville, or Build-a-Bear Workshop, is easy and fun. It only takes a few minutes to do, and your creation is limited only by your budget and imagination.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Building a Bear in Bearville

  1. Step 1

At the store, take a look at all the stuffed animal displays before selecting your stuffed animal. The candidate animals will be in barrels, without stuffing in them, near each display. Animals are changed often, so there are new models coming in all the time.

  2. Step 2

Take your empty stuffed animal to the stuffing machine. A Bearville specialist will stuff your animal for you; you can choose whether you want it soft or firm. At this point, you will add a silk heart.

If you like, you can also add a voice-recorded chip with a special message. For instance, if you are giving this as a gift, you may record your voice saying, "I love you," so your recipient will hear it whenever he or she wants.

  3. Step 3

After it's stuffed, the bear will be sewn up for you. Next, take the bear (or other animal) to a blow-dry station. There you put the animal under blowers to fluff its fur. Small brushes are also provided for the fur.

  4. Step 4

Now you can select clothing, if you wish. There are many outfits and accessories available--everything from Disney princess dresses to aviator sunglasses and various shoes.

  5. Step 5

The final step is purchasing the bear and registering it, with a name that you select, at one of the computer terminals. You will be printed out a "birth certificate" for your purchase. It will be packed in a sturdy crate that looks like a house.

  6. Step 6

Once you take your animal home, you can continue the fun by playing on the Bearville Web site. Using the information from your birth certificate, you can create your own avatar on the site and play games.
