How to Cork a Metal Bat

"Corking a bat" is a term coined from baseball players drilling holes through the tops of their bats and placing cork down the center to make them lighter and subsequently easier to swing. However, corking a baseball bat is not solely for wooden bats. You can "cork" a metal baseball bat as well. Although corked bats are never allowed in an actual game, it can be quite fun to see how far you can hit the baseball with a corked bat during batting practice or while playing with friends.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a metal baseball bat that you do not care about or do not use in actual games.

    • 2

Remove the top cap from the end of the baseball bat. To do this, attach the clamp to the end of the bat and twist off the cap.

    • 3

Remove any metal debris or dirt from inside the baseball bat.

    • 4

Fill the hollowed out baseball bat, to the top, with tennis balls.

    • 5

Glue, cement or duct-tape the cap back on top of the bat so the tennis balls do not fall out.
