Make Your Own Gel Soap

For a low-cost, eco-friendly, natural gel soap, try making your own at home. It is a simple, quick process that allows you to create a large amount of soap very cheaply and without any undesirable chemical ingredients. If you have sensitive skin, you can control exactly what is going into your soap. You also have the ability to add any scent you choose. You only need a few ingredients and about 30 minutes to make this gel-soap recipe.

Step 1

Put the soap flakes into a large cooking pot. You can also grate bar soap to make your own flakes if there is a bar soap you really like.

Step 2

Add the water and glycerin to the pot, and warm over low heat.

Step 3

Stir the mixture, heating slowly until the soap is melted. Using a double boiler will help melt it evenly without the risk of burning.

Step 4

Increase the amount of water, up to a gallon, if you desire a thinner soap.

Step 5

Remove the soap from the heat when the flakes are completely dissolved and let cool.

Step 6

Pour the soap into a large container, like a clean milk jug, and use it to refill your smaller soap bottles.

Tip

Add a few drops of fragrance oil or vitamin E oil if you wish.
