Tiger eye beads

Resembling an eye of the tiger, the tiger eye stone has a rich yellow and golden brown luster when polished. Beads are available in a variety of forms: round, oval, faceted, nugget or rondelle. Intensify the burnished color. Wear it adjacent to gold. Pair it with a creamy or iridescent pearl. Tiger eye beaded jewelry with contrasting browns and shimmering polish is an eye catcher. Wear tiger eye beaded jewelry to enhance any outfit, day or night.

    • 1

Measure 18 inches of beading wire. Cut with wire cutters. Attach one gold crimp bead and one part of toggle. Place crimp bead at the wire's end. Add toggle clasp. Loop wire back through crimp bead. Squeeze with crimping pliers.

    • 2

Lay out bead pattern on a bead board or soft cloth: 12 tiger eye beads, one gold spacer, five tiger eye beads, one gold spacer, two tiger eye beads, one gold spacer, three tiger eye bead, one champagne pearl, two tiger eye beads, one gold twist spacer, three tiger eye beads, one gold spacer and one champagne pearl. Repeat pattern to make 16 inches. String beads. Attach end with crimp bead and clasp. Crimp, trim and tuck.

    • 3

Work on a pair of matching earrings. Make a pattern of one champagne pearl, one gold spacer and one tiger eye bead. Bead the head pin. Bend headpin to a 90-degree angle. With round nose pliers, loop the wire over. Attach beaded headpin to wire. Close the opening. Repeat the same steps with the other earring.

    • 4

Purchase extra beads to make a matching bracelet. Consider a double-strung tiger eye, mixed with champagne pearls and a bit of gold. You will need approximately fifty 4-mm tiger eye beads, six champagne pearls, twelve 2-mm gold-tone patterned rounds and a gold-tone toggle clasp with two jump ring holes. Follow the same pattern except leave out the twist spacers. Work in the same manner as the necklace. Affix one strand at a time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mix and match the pieces or wear them all at once to make a fashion statement. Choose different sized beads and make a different pattern. Use teardrop tiger eye beads for elegant earrings. Use elastic cord and make several bracelets to wear all at once, changing the style of the tiger eye for contrast.
