Instructions

    • 1

Take a hot shower or bath to soften the skin and hair on your legs before you attempt to remove the ingrown hairs. If bathing is not an option, apply a warm compress to the ingrown hair and surrounding area of your leg.

    • 2

Use a cotton ball or pad to wipe down a pair of tweezers with rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol will remove any dirt, germs and hair that may be on the tweezers.

    • 3

Work slowly with the tweezers to gently tease out the ingrown hair from your leg. Sometimes you will see the end of the ingrown hair underneath your skin. Other times you may need to work blindly, using the irritated spot on your leg as a guide to where the hair is located. If the hair does not come out easily, do not break the skin to look for it.

Dab some alcohol on your leg where you have removed the hair as an added measure of cleanliness and safety. You can also use hydrogen peroxide or an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.
