How to Professionally Hold a Golf Club

  1. Step 1

Select the golf club you want to use, making sure that the club's grip is not damaged in any way.

  2. Step 2

Place your left hand at the top of the club's grip; you can choke up on the club if you feel it is too long for you.

  3. Step 3

Place your right hand directly underneath your left hand, make sure your grip is loose but still firm enough to control the club.

  4. Step 4

Interlock your right hand's pinky with your left hand's index finger. This may feel uncomfortable at first, but using this grip will keep all the parts of your swing in synch.

  5. Step 5

Step up to the ball with your knees slightly bend and your legs a shoulders' width apart, as you prepare to take your swing.
