Many people have been fooled by the glow-in-the-dark Mountain Dew hoax that circulated a few years ago on the Internet. The video proved to be a hoax, but interest init led to other ways to make glow sticks out of bottles. This variation requires just a few common ingredients.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 (20 oz ) bottle of Mountain Dew 1 commercial glowstick, any color Scissors 1 tbsp. mild dish washing detergent 3 tbsp. hydrogen peroxide 1 tsp. baking soda
  1. Step 1

Pour out all but the last half inch of the soda in the bottle of Mountain Dew.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the bottle and quickly cap it. Shake the bottle gently and dim the lights to see the glowing bottle of "soda" in action.

  • Never drink the glow stick mixture in the bottle, and keep it out of the reach of children who might mistakenly do so.
