Cook Tuna Steaks in a Pan

Tuna steaks are becoming very popular. Tuna contains the omega-3 oil valued by many. Some tuna can contain as much as 300 mg per serving. Tuna is an oily fish, therefore it contains a high amount of vitamin D. The fish can be seared, baked, grilled, smoked or pan fried. It can be cooked rare and served in a variety of styles. Tuna is a great alternative to other seafood and red meat.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tuna steak 2 tbsp. lemon juice per steak Salt (as desired) Pepper (as desired) 1 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. garlic powder per steak
  1. Step 1

Pour the lemon juice onto the tuna steak and set aside for 15 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Melt the butter in a skillet on medium. Add salt, pepper and garlic to pan.

  3. Step 3

Place the tuna in pan and cook to desired doneness. If you want the tuna cooked through, verify the doneness with a knife. Cut open the tuna in the center and see how much red is present. The center should be slightly red, because the tuna will finish cooking once it is taken off the heat. Do not overcook, for the moistest results.

  4. Step 4

Remove the tuna from the heat. Set the pan off to the side.

  5. Step 5

Let the tuna sit for 5 minutes to finish cooking inside.

  6. Step 6

Serve with parsley as a garnish.
