Building towers isn't just for kids, it's something adults of all ages enjoy as well. Popsicle sticks are an inexpensive and fun object that can be used to create numerous projects and keep any kid or adult amused for hours on end. Popsicle towers are fun to build because you can create any design you want.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Popsicle sticks Hot glue gun Hot glue sticks Paper Writing instrument Newspaper or cardboard Paper Writing instrument Scissors
  1. Step 1

Draw out a design of your tower. Determine how tall and wide you would like it to be. Lay down newspaper or cardboard on your table or workspace. This will protect your table from dripping hot glue.

  2. Step 2

Lay out the foundation for the tower with your popsicle sticks. The easiest way to do this for a simple tower is to lay two Popsicle sticks down parallel to each other a couple of inches apart. Lay one Popsicle stick across the ends of the two parallel sticks. Then lay another one across the other end of the parallel sticks.

  3. Step 3

Plug in the hot glue gun and put in a hot glue stick. Dab a bit of glue on the ends of the sticks and press them together to secure the tower foundation. Create the sides of the tower by first taking a Popsicle stick and turning it on its side. Then cover the side with hot glue. Place another Popsicle stick on its side on top of the glue. Gently press down and hold in place for 10 seconds until the glue dries.

  4. Step 4

Repeat with several Popsicle sticks, connecting them with glue on their sides until you have reached the desired height. Do the same for the other three sides. Cover the base with hot glue. Position one wall in place and hold to allow it to dry. Then repeat with the other three sides.

  5. Step 5

Take a Popsicle stick and cover one flat end with hot glue. Place it on one of the top corners and hold in place until dry. Make sure it angles upward to create a vaulted or pointed roof. Repeat with Popsicle sticks on the other three corners. The tips should all come together in the center.

  6. Step 6

Start in the center of one of the sides and glue Popsicle sticks at an angle to make them all reach the center of the tower where the other popsicle sticks meet. You may need to cut down some sticks to make them fit. Continue all the way around until you have completed the roof. Allow to dry. You now have a Popsicle stick tower to play with. If you want to, you can paint or decorate the tower as you see fit.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a design or layout to mimic the tower after and replicate it with the Popsicle sticks
  • Don't push too hard on the sticks or they will crack and break
