Things You'll Need:
- Hair extensions Razor or other sharp tool Comb or clip Bonding glue Syringe Blow dryer
-
Step 1
Start with clean hair. For best results, shampoo and rinse your hair thoroughly before applying extensions. Do not use conditioner, because it may interfere with the bond.
-
Step 2
Split your tracks. Your hair extensions come attached to a weft. To achieve a more natural-looking head of hair, split the weft band using a sharp, razorlike tool. This action causes the hair to separate, expanding the amount of hair you have to work with. However, this step should be done only when extensions have thick wefts, usually found in less expensive hair products.
-
Step 3
Section your hair. Starting at the nape of the neck, part a section of the hair, using a large comb or clip to hold the rest of your hair out of the way. This will allow you to work neatly without hair accidentally falling onto the section you are working on.
-
Step 4
Using a syringe, apply bonding glue to the weft of the extension. Wait about 15 seconds to allow the glue to saturate the weft before moving on to Step 5.
-
Step 5
Attach the extension by placing it as close to the pre-parted hairline as possible. Be careful not to place the weft onto the scalp because it could cause scalp damage. Press the weft firmly into the hairline; use a blow dryer over the area for about 15 to 30 seconds to secure the hold. Part another section of hair and repeat.
