How to Light a Gas Fireplace With a Key

If you want a roaring fire in your gas fireplace, forget about chopping wood. Most gas fireplaces are easy to light by turning on the gas and igniting the fire with a long match. If your fireplace has a gas key, follow these instructions to light the fire.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gas fireplace with key operation Long match
  1. Step 1

    Light the long match.

  2. Step 2

    Insert the key into the hole, usually located in front of the fireplace.

  3. Step 3

    Turn the key slowly to the right (clockwise).

  4. Step 4

    Carefully insert the long match into the fireplace below the the logs and grate.
