Things You'll Need:
- wall paint brushes hot, soapy water bucket sponge or cloth

Step 1
Clean your walls. This is the first step to take when deciding to paint any wall. Fill a bucket with hot, soapy water and use a sponge or a cloth to scrub off any dirt, dust or debris that may be clinging to your walls. Any particles on the wall could prevent the paint from properly sticking to the walls and could cause peeling. After you are finished scrubbing, let the walls dry completely before painting.

Step 2
Paint the dark colors. All painters know that you always start with the dark colors first. If you are painting water, start with a dark turquoise or dark cobalt blue. Paint waves, splashes, and pools of water using the dark color and gradually progress to lighter shades of blue or turquoise. When you want to paint the sun reflecting on the water, use a very light, almost white, blue, purple or turquoise color and carefully paint only the areas that the sun would hit. If the sun sparkles in a certain area, carefully add pure white to that area in small dots or fine lines. Once you are finished painting the water the way you would like it, let the paint dry completely.

Step 3
Air out the room. You will want to air out the room that you painted. Paint can generate fumes that can be dangerous to breathe in in large quantities. Try to allow your room to air out completely before having guests or family members stay in that room. After your room is completely dry and aired out, you can enjoy beautiful water features in your own home.
