How to Make Your Own Hockey Card
It's a thrill for a child to see his picture on a hockey card. Digital photography has made it easy to put your son's face on his own hockey card using a computer. Lining up a picture and information so both are centered is tricky using a printer because the orientation changes when the picture is reversed. These directions do not rely on any specific computer program. Instead, they allow you to print out both the photograph and information in the correct size and glue the two together.

Making Your Own Hockey Card
-
1
Take a picture of your son on the rink in uniform using a digital camera. Pose him bent over his hockey stick preparing to take a shot. Take a few shots so he can select his favorite.
-
2
Download the photos onto your computer. Compare them until you find the best one.
-
-
3
Reduce the photo to about 2-by-3 inches, and put a border around it. Type the year above the picture. Type your child's name and the team's name beneath the photo. Keep all information to the size of a professional hockey card.
-
4
Use paper specially designed for prints. Line it up in the feeder, and print out a copy.
-
5
Open another screen on the computer. In a space small enough to fit on the back of your hockey card, type your child's name, age, height, weight, position and other specifics as appropriate. Include a border using downloadable graphics.

6
Print out the information on paper designed for prints. Cut the back side to the same size as the front. Glue the two together.

Look for photos with good lighting. You can also use an action shot rather than a posed shot.
