Things You'll Need:
- 3/4-inch high-quality smooth-finish 10-foot by 5-foot plywood Measuring tape Circular saw Sander Wood stain or paint of your choice Water sealant Four heavy-duty hinges with screws Latch Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Measure out the length and width of the opening in the shed doorway. If the space is wider than 5 feet, a double door will be best.
-
Step 2
Subtract 1/2 inch from your two measurements. Transfer those new measurements onto the piece of plywood and draw out a rectangle for a single door. To create double doors, divide the overall width measurement by two and create two individual sections on the plywood using the same length as before and the new width.
-
Step 3
Sand any rough edges off your pieces with the circular saw. Apply wood stain or paint of your choice and allow to dry.
-
Step 4
Apply water sealant to your cut sections and allow to dry.
-
Step 1
Install the hinges with the screws to the side of the door you will attach to the shed. Install them 4 to 5 inches inward from the top and bottom of the door.
-
Step 2
Place the door inside the doorway of the shed and attach the other sections of the hinges to the doorway frame. You may have to have a friend hold the door open and in place while you stand inside the shed and attach the hinges to the door frame.
-
Step 3
Screw the appropriate section of the latch onto the door and the other section onto the shed at the height you want.
-
Step 1
Take one of your doors and install the hinges with screws to the side you will attach to the shed. Install them 4 to 5 inches inward from the top and bottom of the door.
-
Step 2
Install the hinges to the side of your other door that will be attached to the shed.
-
Step 3
Attach a door to each side of the shed doorway using the same technique in Section 2.
-
Step 4
Screw one half of the latch on one of the doors and the other half of the latch on the other door at the height you prefer. You can use the latch sections as your handles to open the doors, too.
