A computer that has the Photo Deluxe program installed on it sometimes has problems processing the Photo Deluxe program if the computer is upgraded to Windows XP. It can be difficult to pinpoint what makes it difficult for this program to run, but there are a few things you can do to increase the likelihood that Photo Deluxe will work on Windows XP.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer Photo Deluxe software
  1. Step 1

Go to the "Start" menu on the bottom left hand side of the computer screen. Navigate to "Control panel" and click on it. Find the "Add and Remove Programs" icon.

  2. Step 2

Find the Adobe Photo Deluxe software files on the menu and click on it. A box will appear to ask if you really want to remove the program and its components. Click "yes." To get Photo Deluxe to work properly on the new operating system, it must be completely uninstalled and then re-installed.

  3. Step 3

After the uninstall has completed, the icon will disappear from the page. Ensure that the uninstall process has completed by restarting the computer.

  4. Step 4

After the computer has restarted, insert the Photo Deluxe disc back into the computer. The installation wizard will appear to guide you through the installation process. Because all the previous Photo Deluxe files were removed, the installation process may take a few minutes. Every program file will need to be re-installed.

  5. Step 5

Restart the computer again. Open the Photo Deluxe software to check out how it reacts. Try to open files previously created with the Photo Deluxe software.

  6. Step 6

If the program still is not running properly, right click on the program's icon and select "Properties."
Select the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode." From the list that appears, select an operating system that the program has previously run in.
For example, Windows 98 or Windows 95 might run the program better. Even if Windows 98 were to be used to run this program, the rest of the computer would still operate on Windows XP.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider switching to a different photo editing software. Even though Photo Deluxe might be working on the computer now, the fact is that it is an outdated program. If you switch to a newer program like Photoshop Elements, you'll find that it offers more freedom in photo editing.
  • Do not expect assistance from Adobe with your Photo Deluxe product. The company no longer offers support for the program.
