    Installing New Car Speakers

  1. Step 1

To install front speakers, remove the door panels on both the passenger and driver side doors. To remove the door panel, simply remove all the screws around the edge of the door panel. Pull the trim away from the handle. Some door handles will have screws and others will simply pull away when a screwdriver is wedged under the panel. Place all screws you have taken out into a small plastic container to avoid losing them.
Once you have removed all screws and trim pieces, pull the door panel up and outward to free it from the tract. You will reveal the inside of the door.

  2. Step 2

Inside the door, there will be a speaker and a speaker mount. Remove the old speaker by removing the screws and pulling it outward gently. Place the screws into a plastic container as you will need them later. You will see a small plastic clip that holds two sets of wires together. This is the wiring harness. Unclip the speaker from the factory end of the wiring harness and place it aside. Take the new speaker and accompanying wiring harness and connect the new speaker harness to the factory harness left in the door panel.
Use your wire crimpers to crimp each wire to the correlating spot to the back of the speaker. The wires and accompanying holes will have "+" and " -" designations may be color coded. Be careful to connect the speakers correctly.

  3. Step 3

Take the new speaker and accompanying wiring harness and connect the new speaker harness to the factory harness that is left in the door panel.
Use your wire crimpers to crimp each wire to the correlating spot to the back of the speaker. The wires and accompanying holes will have "+" and "-" designations may be color coded. Be careful to connect the speakers correctly.

  4. Step 4

Now that the wires are crimped together, slide the speaker into the speaker mount and screw it in place. The speakers should be ready to play. Test the speaker by turning on the radio. If the sound is crisp, slide the door panel back on and replace the screws and trim.

  5. Step 5

Repeat the process on the opposite door and again test the speakers before putting the door panel back on. If everything sounds good, replace the door panel. Your new speakers are ready to blast.

Tips & Warnings
  • To find compatible speakers, use Crutchfield's compatibility form at crutchfield.com. Use separate container for door panel screws and speaker screws to make the job easier. A magnetic screwdriver can be used to ensure you do not drop screws when removing them.
