How to Clean a Glass Spoon Pipe

Whatever you smoke in your glass spoon pipe leaves behind a buildup of disgusting residue, which is why it should be cleaned frequently. A pipe that's not clogged with the stuff makes for a much more enjoyable smoke, but most people dread the chore of cleaning their pipes. Here's a cleaning method that actually works much better than the traditional alcohol and salt glass spoon pipe cleaning treatments.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on a pair of disposable gloves, because acetone is a common skin irritant. Gently set the glass spoon pipe in the bottom of a plastic container.

    • 2

Pour enough acetone into the container to completely immerse the pipe. The fluid will start dissolving the residue and dirt on the pipe right away.

    • 3

Swish the container around gently to circulate the acetone through the interior and over all of the exterior surfaces of the entire pipe.

    • 4

Take the pipe out of the acetone when all of the dirt and residue is completely dissolved. Rinse the pipe well under hot running water.

    • 5

Set the pipe on a small folded towel or washcloth. Allow the acetone to evaporate by air drying the pipe completely before using it again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember that the acetone in nail polish remover is flammable. Don't use the pipe again after cleaning until it has dried thoroughly.
