      Pouring pot and wax

Use your scale to measure out a pound of wax and place the wax into your pouring pot. Place pouring pot into a pan that you have filled halfway with water. Place it on the stove top over medium heat.

    • 2

While the wax is melting, prepare your mold. Lightly spray the mold with cooking spray to aid in removing the candle later. Most pillar molds have a hole in the bottom and come with a screw. Insert your wick through the bottom, leaving enough wick at top to tie around a stick. Turn the screw into the bottom of mold to help hold the wick in place; seal around and on top of screw with mold seal.

    • 3

With the stove on medium, continue to let the wax in the pouring pot to melt. Check the wax temperature with your thermometer. When melted wax reaches a temperature of 180 degree to 190 degree, it is time to add additives.

    • 4

Add 1.5 oz. of your chosen fragrance oil; you may add more or less, depending on your preference. Mix well.

    • 5

Dye will depend a lot on preference and shade, but usually it is 7 drops per pound of wax. Blend the dye well, then pour the wax into the mold. Reserve some wax for a second pour.

    • 6

Allow the candle to cool completely. You will notice that the candle has a sinkhole in the middle. This is normal, as you will have to re-melt the remainder of wax in your pot and do a second pour into your mold.

Allow wax to cool well again after your second pour, then you can remove the screw from bottom and remove your candle from the mold.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the candle does not remove easily, you may put the mold into the freezer for a while and then try again later.

  • Melted wax can burn; always use adult supervision if kids are involved.
