Halloween and birthday fun can be combined

Anyone born on or around Oct. 31 gets a double celebration. They get to combine their birthday with the horror-filled holiday of Halloween. You can easily make Halloween birthday cards for that lucky someone by merging the two themes. Here's how.

From Quick Guide: Birthday Cards for Beginners
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper or card stock Drawing instrument Coloring tools Craft glue and novelties (optional)
  1. Step 1

Set up your card. Take a piece of heavy paper or card stock and fold it in half down the middle. Your card can either be used as a tall card or a wide card, depending on what best suits your image.

  2. Step 2

Decide on an image. Combine the birthday theme with Halloween by picking an image that reflects both. Options include a skull-shaped birthday cake, a jack-o-lantern, skeleton or ghost wearing a birthday hat, or a witch with birthday presents on her broom.

  3. Step 3

Create an appropriate saying. Instead of the boring old "Happy Birthday," combine a birthday wish with the Halloween theme. "Have a Ghoulish Birthday," "Witches are Wishing You the Best Birthday Ever," and "No bones about it, you deserve a great birthday" are some options. Try to make the saying match the image you've chosen. The bones saying, for instance, would go great with a parade of skeletons in birthday hats.

  4. Step 4

Pick the layout. Draw your image on the front of the card, leaving room for the saying if you want that on the front as well. Otherwise, write your saying inside the card.

  5. Step 5

Add any extras. You can further embellish the card by gluing on plastic bones, glitter, fake spider webs and other birthday or Halloween trinkets.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can get quality paper or card stock at stationery, art supply or craft stores. Dollar stores are good for little holiday novelties you can stick on the card.
  • Don't make a Halloween birthday card for someone not born around Halloween. They may get offended.
