How to Hit a Driver Off the Tee
The tee shot is one of the most important--and subsequently most frustrating--shots in all of golf. Being able to drive the ball straight and far off of the tee allows all other golf shots to become easier. There is more to driving the golf ball than just stepping up and swinging the club. A golfer must have the right stance, the right, grip and the correct swing. Many golfers can not repeat the same swing motion over and over again, so each tee shot represents a new challenge.

1
Tee up a ball. Stick the tee only half way into the ground--too low, and you will hit only the top half of the ball. If you place it too high you will pop the ball up, not getting the distance you want.
-
2
Grip the driver correctly in your hands. For a right-handed golfer, your left hand will be on top and your right hand will be on the bottom. The correct grip is achieved by interlocking your right pinky finger with your left index finger.

3
Stand two feet away, parallel to the ball. Your feet should be spread out shoulders-length apart, with the ball resting directly in the middle of your stance.
-
4
Rotate your shoulders back while keeping your front arm and your wrists locked.
-
5
Follow through with your head remaining still and down, looking at the tee. Lift your head only after the ball has been struck. If you lift it too early, this will cause you to open your shoulders and you will shank the ball.
