Wheelies can be great fun, plus they're a good way to show off to your friends. You may not think that your XR200 has enough power to jump off the ground, but using the correct technique it can. Be careful though, because if you wheelie over, you will probably never live it down.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on your helmet and all riding protective gear. Even something as simple as popping a wheelie can be very dangerous.

    • 2

Start your bike and take off over smooth terrain. Shift into second gear and ride very slowly. Keep the motor running by giving the bike a smooth clutch feed.

    • 3

Slide to the back of the seat and gain as much balance as possible.

    • 4

Let off the clutch just a bit and hit the throttle hard. Stand up as the front tire lifts off the ground. Give a smooth easy burst of throttle as the tire lifts higher and higher.

    • 5

Feather the clutch smoothly. Allow the tire to keep rising as you gain forward momentum.

    • 6

Keep a smooth clutch feed as you continue to wheelie. Try to maintain your balance. Don't allow the bike to sway to the left or the right.

    • 7

When you are ready to finish, pull in the clutch and slightly tap the rear brake. Do not touch the front brake, as this could send you over the bars.

    • 8

As the front tire touches the ground, keep the clutch pulled in and allow yourself to slow to a stop.

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice this technique before you try to show off for others. Getting good at popping wheelies takes practice.
